Where a single-phase installation needs Type 1 and Type 2 duty in one device, the DEHNventil DV M TT 2P 255 covers both. Its spark-gap technology carries a 50kA total lightning impulse current on the L+N-PE path, holds the protection level to 1.5kV, and is capable of protecting terminal equipment directly.

Typical applications
Fit it at the origin of single-phase installations exposed to direct lightning current - buildings with an external lightning protection system, overhead-fed rural properties, telemetry and pumping stations, masts and farm buildings on a TT earth. Because it is coordinated for terminal equipment, one device can often replace a separate Type 1 and Type 2 arrangement.
Compliance
Tested as a Type 1 / Class I device to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-1, with KEMA, VDE, UL and VdS approvals, a UL 94 V-0 enclosure and IP20 protection. Energy coordination is declared with Type 2 equipment, and with Type 3 equipment within 5m. BS 7671 requires transient overvoltage risk to be assessed, with Type 1 protection where partial lightning current may enter the installation.
