Configured for TPN supplies on a TN earthing system, this eight-module DEHN combined Type 1 and 2 arrester takes the partial lightning current a direct strike can inject into the installation, and limits the switching and induced surges that arrive under normal operation.

Typical applications
Typical installations are TPN intake panels in factories, warehouses and distribution centres, commercial buildings with an external lightning protection system, plant rooms and switchrooms fed from a nearby substation, and industrial sites on exposed ground. Type 2 devices at the distribution boards then complete the coordinated scheme.
Compliance
Combined Type 1 and Type 2 devices are classified under the BS EN 61643-11 series and are installed at the origin of the installation. BS 7671 requires transient overvoltage risk to be assessed, with Type 1 protection where partial lightning current may enter the installation.
