Mersen's Surge-Trap STPT12 is the pluggable combined arrester for the incoming position, and this two-pole version is configured for single-phase TT installations. It discharges a 12.5kA lightning impulse current per phase, holds the protection level to 1.3kV line to neutral, and reports its own end of life through a remote contact.

Tested to IEC 61643-11 and EN 61643-11 as a Type 1+2 / Class I+II device, with a PA66 CT1 V-0 body and IP20 protection for enclosure mounting. BS 7671 requires the risk from transient overvoltages to be assessed, with Type 1 protection used where partial lightning current may enter the installation.
