Product details
Three-phase Type 2 protection for TT and TN systems, with monitoring contacts included. On industrial and infrastructure sites the distribution board is rarely the thing being watched, so a contact that reports an expired module directly into the control system closes a real gap.
Key features
- Type 2 protection for three-phase TT and TN installations, four modules wide
- Monitoring contacts for remote end-of-life signalling to BMS, SCADA or alarm panel
- Pluggable protection modules replaced individually without disturbing terminations
- Local status indication retained for inspection at the board
- Well suited to unmanned sites and to specifications requiring SPD status reporting
Typical applications
Typical homes for this arrester are water and wastewater pumping stations, agricultural and horticultural installations, outdoor process and materials handling plant, telecom and broadcast compounds, and three-phase landlord boards in managed buildings. The signalling contact usually lands on a spare input already present in the panel or outstation.
Compliance
Type 2 devices are classified under the BS EN 61643-11 series and are fitted at distribution boards to limit switching and induced overvoltages. On TT systems the neutral-to-earth path is normally bridged by a spark gap. BS 7671 requires transient overvoltage risk to be assessed and protection provided where the consequences justify it.
