Product details

This is the remote-signalling version of DEHN's two-module Type 2 arrester for single-phase TT installations. TT sites are often the ones nobody visits - a pump house, an outbuilding, a mast - which is exactly where a set of monitoring contacts earns its cost several times over.

Key features

  • Type 2 protection for single-phase TT systems, two DIN modules wide
  • Monitoring contacts bring end-of-life status back to a BMS, PLC or alarm panel
  • Pluggable protection modules replaced individually, leaving the wiring in place
  • Local status indication kept for on-site inspection
  • Suits electrode-earthed installations where the board is rarely opened

Typical applications

TT earthing is common on farms, rural properties, borehole and sewage pumping stations, telecom and broadcast sites, temporary supplies and marinas - all places where a fault is discovered late. Wiring the monitoring contact into the site controller or telemetry outstation means the protection is reported alongside everything else being monitored.

Compliance

Type 2 devices are classified under the BS EN 61643-11 series and are installed at distribution boards to limit switching and induced overvoltages. On TT systems the neutral-to-earth path is normally bridged by a spark gap. BS 7671 requires transient overvoltage risk to be assessed and protection provided where the consequences justify it.
