Buying guide
GRP is a strong insulating material that does not rust and stands up to weather, UV and many chemicals, so it is widely used outdoors, in water treatment and near the coast. Being insulating, the enclosure body needs no earth connection of its own; metal mounting plates and parts inside may still need one.
Check the IK impact rating where knocks are likely.
Questions
- GRP or ABS?
- GRP is stronger and more resistant to heat and UV, for demanding outdoor and industrial sites. ABS is lighter and lower in cost, for general indoor and sheltered use.
- What is an IK rating?
- IK is protection against impact: IK08 withstands a 5 joule impact and IK10 a 20 joule impact.
