Buying guide
A three pole MCCB protects a three phase circuit against overload and short circuit and gives a point of isolation in the board. The Terasaki range in the shop covers the TemBreak 2 Lite devices used as outgoing ways on Resilience Standard boards and the TemBreak 2 devices used on Resilience Plus boards and as incomers, from 20 A on the 160 A frame to 800 A on the 1250 A frame.
Filter by rated current, frame size, breaking capacity and trip unit. Every product page lists the accessories that fit the device - shunt trips, under-voltage releases, auxiliary and alarm switches, terminal covers and locks - and links to the Panel Builder.
Questions
- What breaking capacity do I need?
- At least the prospective fault current at the board. The NJ types give 36 kA at 415 V and the GJ types 65 kA; the TemBreak 2 Lite types give 25 kA to 40 kA for lighter duties.
- What is the frame size?
- The ampere frame is the size of the breaker body - 160 AF, 250 AF, 400 AF or 800 AF. Each frame covers a span of rated currents, and the terminal covers and accessories are made for a frame.
- Thermal-magnetic or electronic?
- Thermal-magnetic trip units are set with dials and suit most distribution circuits. Electronic trip units add adjustable long-time, short-time and instantaneous settings for closer discrimination.
