On a TN-C-S supply the protective and neutral conductors are combined up to the intake, so a single-pole arrester between line and PEN does the whole job. The DEHNguard DG S 275 does exactly that in one DIN module, handling a 20kA nominal discharge current while holding the let-through voltage to 1.25kV.

Typical applications
This is the everyday distribution board arrester for UK domestic and light commercial installations on a PME supply: consumer units and small commercial boards, sub-mains panels feeding IT and comms, EV charge point supplies, solar PV a.c. side connections, and boards serving heat pumps or controls. It limits the switching and induced surges that reach the board from the network and from other loads on the same installation.
Compliance
Tested as a Type 2 device to EN 61643-11 and Class II to IEC 61643-1, with KEMA, VDE, UL, VdS and CSA approvals and a UL 94 V-0 enclosure. IP20, for mounting within an enclosure. BS 7671 requires the risk from transient overvoltages to be assessed and surge protection fitted where the consequences justify it.
