Typical applications

The IP44 rating is defined in BS EN 60529 as protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm and against splashing water from any direction, which covers indoor workshops, plant rooms and sheltered external positions but not wash-down bays or fully exposed sites; specify an IP65 or IP67 socket for those.
